I thought the combat felt outright bad, mostly due to the gunplay feeling piss-poor. While Control may have more gripping small, individual stories (the Not-Mother comes to mind), I believe Alan Wake's story is still overall stronger.Īs for Quantum Break, it can be a bit more divisive. Wake's real strength is in it's storytelling and atmosphere. Alan Wake's combat is pretty good once you get the hang of it, though it's maybe a bit simplistic. In terms of gameplay, neither one is going to hold a candle to Control.
